Hat-trick by Uday
Y. Uday Kumar scored a hat-trick in Sabari Sporting's 4-1 win over Allipuram FC in the `A' division football league here on Thursday. Uday netted twice in the first half and completed the hat-trick in the second half. B. Eswara Rao completed the margin in the second half. K. Sankar reduced the margin for Allipuram FC. Srikanth, Ramu for IASM Vijayawada swimmers R. Srikanth and J. Ramu would be participating in the 8th International Adventure Sports Meet (IASM) to be held at Pachmarhi (Madhya Pradesh) from Feb. 16 to 25. Sixteen nations are taking part in this meet. The duo would take part in trekking, rock claimbing, mountaineering, parasailing, triathlon, river rafting, swimming, and valley crossing, cycling, sailing, boating and kayaking.
Volleyball tournament
Twenty-two teams would participate in the 12th P. B. Siddhartha all India inter-sports hostel and college volleyball tournament for men and women to be held at P.B. Siddhartha Arts and Science College at Vijayawada from Feb. 24 to 27. Ankamma Chowdary, physical director of the college said that the best junior spikers in the country would be seen in action, which offers prize money of Rs. 50,000 for the winner in both categories. "We are also offering Rs. 20,000 for the best spiker, best booster, best setter and best all-rounder to encourage the youngsters," he added. The tournament will be held on a league-cum-knockout basis at the two courts at the venue. "The evenings fixtures would be played under lights,'' he said. Volleyball Federation of India is also providing travel concession forms to the players and the organisers are offering free boarding and lodging to all outstation players.
AP to meet HP
AG Andhra Pradesh moved into the final of the IA & AD inter-zonal volleyball tournament with a 25-21, 25-17, 25-18 win against AG Karnataka at AG's Office in Hyderabad on Thursday. In the other semifinal, AG Himachal Pradesh defeated AG Bihar 29-27, 25-15, 25-20.
Prasanna in Indian camp
Krishna district netball player T. Naga Prasanna has been selected for the Indian team probables coaching camp to be held at Raipur (Chhattisgarh) from Feb. 10 to 20, said Andhra Pradesh Netball Association secretary S. Someswara Rao at Vijayawada on Thursday.
