WARANGAL: Six youths were injured when a pistol went off during a police training class at Gudur mandal headquarters here on Thursday. According to the police, the department had been conducting training classes for tribal youth in rural areas to enable them join civil police, APSP and armed forces. On Thursday, APSP constable Sundaram was training a batch when the pistol he kept on his lap fell down and went off. The pellets of the Shabad stones pierced the bodies of those sitting in the class. The injured youths were identified as: Isam Komala, Boruka Girija, Parasuka Yungandhar, Daravath Mancha, Vodlakonda Laxman and Sk Pasha. They were shifted to a private hospital in Narasampet. DSP John Wesley said that all the injured were out of danger. In-charge Circle Inspector K Surender said that a case was being registered against the constable on charges of negligence. The police conducted a similar 15-day training programme for the rural youths at Kothaguda mandal to prepare them for the army and police recruitment rallies.
