BJP to go it alone in U.P. Assembly polls: Naqvi

Media report on alliance denied

ALLAHABAD: BJP national vice-president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Thursday said his party would make no electoral alliance with any party in the next Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections and contest alone on all seats.

Rubbishing a media report suggesting that the BJP and Samajwadi Party might jointly contest the next Assembly polls, Mr. Naqvi said it was baseless, untrue and a political conspiracy hatched by the latter.

``We have been trying to end the SP 'misrule' in UP...how is it possible to make an electoral alliance with that party.''

On SP's attempts to forge a third front at the Centre, Mr. Naqvi termed it a ``Mungeri Lal'' dream.

He said the U.P. law and order situation had gone out of control of the Mulayam Singh Yadav Government. ``There is total anarchy everywhere and development has come to a standstill.''

He maintained that his party was ready for Assembly elections in U.P. anytime.

``Both SP and BSP are engaged in politics of casteism and anarchy...corruption is the gift of these two political outfits.''

On the impact of expelled BJP leader and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Uma Bharti, Mr. Naqvi said everyone was free to air his/her views, but ``an individual cannot cause any harm to our party.''
