MAHABUBNAGAR: Pedda Ramaiah, a resident of Ibrahimbad in Hanwada mandal, accused and detained by villagers for allegedly practising banamati, hanged himself from a tree on Thursday morning. According to the information received here, Anjilaiah of the same village allegedly saw Pedda Ramaiah and his younger brother Chinna Ramaiah performing banamati on Tuesday night. He admonished them and reported the same to the village sarpanch who chided them in front of the villagers and detained him in the Gram Panchayat office on Wednesday. When Pedda Ramaiah was allowed to attend nature's call on Thursday morning, he hanged himself to death.
