Pointing out that there are 1,60,000 printing houses in the country, out of which 48,000 were in Tamil Nadu, Mr. Chander said the exhibition would open up new vistas in the computer to plate making technology and large format hoardings. He said during the coming Assembly elections, printing companies would register a 40 per cent growth in their business, as there would be demand for posters and other handbills from various political parties. Established in 1952, the MPLA plans to set up a Golden Jubilee Training Centre for excellence in printing with testing facilities. The facility, expected to be built under the Built Operate Transfer mode, will come up near Maraimalainagar or Taramani at a cost of Rs.1 crore, provided the State Government gave land, Mr. Chander added.
