Temple tank can be taken over: court

Chennai : The Madras High Court has ruled that a temple tank in Okkiyam - Thoraipakkam village could be taken over to build a market complex for traders displaced by the IT Highway project. "It (the temple tank) is neither used as a drinking water tank nor as an irrigation source. The proposal ... would not affect the interest of the villages," the First Bench said.
