`Government committed to promotion of Telugu'

HYDERABAD : Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy has reiterated his Government's commitment towards promotion of Telugu language and literature.

He underscored the need for litterateurs to bring ancient Telugu literary works closer to the present generation. Dr. Reddy was speaking at a function where `Telugu Prabhandhalu' compilation written by M.K. Ramu and published under aegis of `Rasamayee' was released and dedicated to him. The Chief Minister pointed out that Telugu had a 2,000-year history and the Government had appointed a task force to see that the Centre declares it an ancient language.
