BANGALORE: Mata Amritanandamayi, popularly called Amma, on Thursday said the increasing number of natural calamities all over the world indicate decline in dharma (righteousness), while urging devotees to follow the path of dharma for restoration of peace and prosperity in the world. She was blessing devotees at the civic reception hosted here this evening. Amma asked devotees to leave everything to the will of God and face difficulties with all courage.

Rousing reception

Earlier, a rousing reception was accorded to Amma with the State Government promising all possible support for social service projects to be undertaken by Amma in the State.

Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, who could not make it to attend the civic reception following the death of his father-in-law, conveyed his gratitude to Amma for guiding him.

Special Deputy Commissioner, Bangalore district, Rame Gowda, read out Mr. Kumaraswamy's message.

`Embodiment of love'

Praising various social service projects being undertaken by Amma, the Chief Minister also acknowledged her services to the State in the form of construction of houses for the poor under Amrita Kuteeram project in various parts of the State.

Mr. Kumaraswamy described her as embodiment of love and compassion. On the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa said the Government will positively respond to all social projects to be undertaken by Amma. The Deputy Chief Minister also released a souvenir to commemorate Amma's visit to Bangalore.

Earlier, the guests presented pension and certificates to 25 poor people under the Amrita Nidhi scheme. While over one lakh destitutes, widows, handicapped and other poor people will get pension under the scheme all over the country, 1,000 people from the State would get the same.

Karnataka High Court Judge P. Vishwanatha Shetty said: "If everyone adopts the way of life of love and compassion being shown by Amma, there may come a day when police stations and courts will not have any place in the world." Kanakapura Lok Sabha Member Tejaswini Sriramesh, MLC Ramachandra Gowda, High Court Judges R. Gururajan, Mohan Shanthanagoudar and K. Ramanna were present.
