Instances of food poisoning are on the rise in several parts of Kerala, and even expensive hotels do not seem to be exempt. A related issue is the presence of pesticide residue in foodstuff, consequent on their indiscriminate use in farms. The general level of hygiene and safety awareness in the State is high and improving still, yet the risk persists. What is behind this? What steps are needed to improve the situation?
