U.R. Rao, Chancellor of Ambedkar University

Bangalore: U.R Rao, former Chairman, Space Commission and Indian Space Research Organisation, and Chairman of the Physical Research Laboratory Research Council, has been appointed Chancellor of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Lucknow.

A communication issued by the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development said the President, in his capacity as Visitor of the university, has appointed Prof. Rao Chancellor for a period of five years.

Prof. Rao is an internationally known space scientist. It was under his guidance that the first Indian satellite, Aryabhatta, was launched in 1975.
