Letters to the Editor
The two-part interview with Nepal's Maoist leader Prachanda (Feb. 9, 10) is a genuine attempt to present the Maoists' point of view with regard to government structures. It seems that a great majority of Nepal's population looks to India to take concrete steps to bring peace in that country. India has to examine its stand on the two-pillar theory and the Maoists' demands for a multiparty democracy.
Prachanda's plan of relinquishing armed struggle and participating in elections boosts hopes. However, the question is whether his terms for joining the fray will be acceptable to the king.
