Patel Engineering plans hydropower foray

CHENNAI: Patel Engineering plans to venture into hydropower generation. According to a release, the company will bid for independent power projects based on hydroelectric power. Rupen Patel, Managing Director, indicated that the company planned to bid for projects on a build, operate and transfer (BOT) basis. The company has recently bagged the Rs. 439 crore 520 MW Parbati Hydro Electric Project (Stage III) from the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation in consortium with Larsen & Toubro.
