BANGALORE: The Congress has taken serious note of the absence of some of its MLAs from the Legislative Assembly on February 8, when the new Government won the trust vote. It has decided to seek a report from the leader of its legislature party and Leader of the Opposition, N. Dharam Singh, about those of its members who were not present in the House at the time of voting on the motion of confidence. Speaking to presspersons here on Friday, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President M. Mallikarjun Kharge said 12 party MLAs were absent when the voting took place. The legislature party leader would be asked to issue notice to tem for being absent without permission. Action will be taken against the absentee MLAs once he receives the report from Mr. Dharam Singh, Mr. Kharge said. The number of votes against the motion would have been more had all the Congress members been present, he said. The party had not issued a whip to its members to vote against the confidence motion, he said. According to party sources, the MLAs who were not present in the House at the time of voting include V. Somanna, K. Chandrashekar, N.L. Narendra Babu, Abhayachandra Jain, N. Boseraju, Ramesh Kudchi, D.R. Patil and M.T.B Nagaraj.
