WTA supervisor happy with arrangements

BANGALORE: The $175,000 WTA Bangalore, all set to begin at the KSLTA Stadium from Monday, received the approval of the WTA supervisor, Melaine Heuer, who expressed satisfaction with the arrangements made for the event.

Ms. Heuer, who hails from Braunschweig (Germany), told The Hindu on Friday that "all requirements for the Tier Three event are upto expectations. I am happy with the hospitality for the players and the officials, and the weather is perfect for tennis. The courts are okay and I will be checking out the lighting facilities with the chief referee. From what I understand from the organisers, it (lighting) should be ideal for the championship."

She said that the main draw matches would be played both during day as well as under floodlights.
