THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Budget is the United Democratic Front's campaign manifesto for the coming Assembly elections, said BJP State general secretary P. K. Krishnadas here on Friday. "It contains hollow promises that could not be implemented." The general secretary said that one expected the Finance Minister to address the financial crisis and the unemployment problem. However, he had chosen a line that would take the State further down on the path of crisis. The Minister had failed to contain the fiscal limit, which was expected to be brought down to zero by 2007. Mr. Krishnadas noted that the Government would not be able to implement pay revision with the allocations provided. The current year's Budget had estimated an increase of Rs.904 crores in salary bills. But the increase provided in the Budget for the coming year was only Rs.802 crores.
