Farmers' stir continues

BIJAPUR: The dharna launched by members of the Bijapur Zilla Samagra Neeravari Horata Samiti at the Alamatti Reservoir continued for the 24th day on Friday.

About 100 farmers, led by samiti convenor S.K. Bellubbi, participated in Friday's protest. They are demanding that the Government expedite the Upper Krishna Project irrigation schemes and implement a proposal to fill 108 minor irrigation tanks in Bijapur and Bagalkot districts with water from the Alamatti and Narayanpur reservoirs.
