Six injured in group clash, six arrested

Raichur: Six persons were injured seriously in a group clash at Sirwar town of Manvi taluk on Thursday.

The police said that a group, led by Hanumanthappa, attacked another group of six persons while it was observing Muharrum in the town. This led to altercations between them and they attacked one another with sticks and lathis.

A dispute over the place for observing Muharram was the reason for clashes, the police saidThe injured have been admitted to the district civil hospital. The Sirwar police have arrested six persons.

Drowned

Hanumanthappa (55), son of Eranna, drowned when he slipped and fell into a water-filled trench used for construction of a bridge across Yaddaldoddi nallha near Givivar village of Sindhanur taluk on Thursday.
