Industrial growth slows down

Manufacturing sector posts lower growth

NEW DELHI: Industrial growth has slowed down in December 2005, bringing the first negative news on the economic front for some time. Output has risen by only five per cent during the month compared 8.9 per cent at the same time in the previous year. As a result, the overall growth for the first nine months of the current fiscal (April-December 2005-06) has dipped to 7.8 per cent from 8.6 per cent in the same period in 2004-05.
