KOLLAM: A 24-year-old woman, Ranjini, and her 17-day-old twins were found dead in their house at Anchal Yeram, near here, on Friday afternoon. The bodies were found in a pool of blood. The police said Ranjini, who was living with her mother, had developed an affair with a soldier in the Indian Army who was in Anchal on leave. When she got pregnant, he refused to marry her and left the place to join duty in Punjab. Ranjini had filed a petition with the State Women's Commission against the man. Ranjini was delivered of the twins at the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital 17 days back. During hospitalisation, another man who called himself Vinod Kumar befriended her. The police said after she was discharged from hospital, Kumar used to call on her frequently. Ranjini's neighbours told the police that Kumar had called on her on Friday afternoon and was seen leaving the house in haste. Punalur Deputy Superintendent of Police T. James inspected the scene of murder. The whereabouts of the soldier is also being probed, Mr. James said.
