Alex propels Supersonic to victory

TIRUCHI: R. Alex scored an unbeaten 96 as Supersonic thrashed Ponnagar by 137 runs in the Indian Bank-TDCA first division league being held here.

The scores:

First division: Supersonic 225 for four in 39 overs (R. Alex 96 n.o., P. Balamuragan 67) bt Ponnagar 88 in 21 overs (P. Kumar five for 36).

Second division: Zephyr's 197 for nine in 38 overs (M. Sivasubramanian 45, A. Ananth 41, G. Karthik four for 17) bt Annanagar 182 for six in 38 overs (R.A. Jayakumar 50 n.o.).

Third division: National College 160 for nine in 37 overs (G. Kuppuswamy 78 n.o.) lost to Associated 161 for two in 26.5 overs (. Satish 99 n.o., Prabhuram 40 n.o.).

Fourth division: Saranathan Engg. 159 for five in 28 overs (M. Aravind Arasu 50) bt Kaveri RC 108 in 26.4 overs.

Pudukottai RC 181 for four in 28 overs (Saravanan 100 n.o.) bt Dolphin 147 for nine in 28 overs (M. Bala Rajesh 73).

Warriors Avenue 156 for seven in 29 overs bt Manapparai 70 in 21 overs.

Dolphins 126 for eight in 30 overs (P. Govindaprasad 41) lost to Golden Chariot `C' CC 127 for eight in 25.3 overs (K. Vasudevan 41, S.G. Thiagarajan four for 17).

Fifth division: Indian CC 88 in 27 overs lost to Krish 89 for three in17.1 overs.

Karur 127 for seven in 30 overs lost to Promising XI 128 for four in 28.1 overs.

Premier 131 in 27.2 overs bt Karur 89 for nine in 30 overs.

Bishop Heber blanks Tiruchi Union

Bishop Heber College blanked Tiruchi Union 3-0 in a Tiruchi District Football Association third division `B' zone league match here on Friday. Kaushik, Dorji and Dorjee were the scorers.

In the other encounters, Adavan defeated Rock City 3-0. Antony Raj, Ram Kumar and Santosh netted for Adavan. Bakrudeen and Sriram scored in Jothi Micro's 2-0 win over Tiruchi Union.

In a third division `A' zone tie, Sultan scored the match-winner for Red Rose against Thuvakudi FC.

Football tournament

The 32nd all India Electricity Board football tournament will be held at Dindigul from February 14 to 18. Sixteen teams, including defending champion Kerala and runner-up Punjab, will participate in the tournament.
