Vinod leads the fray

KOLKATA: Vinod Sridhar of Tamil Nadu and Ragini Vimal of Bengal will lead the challenge respectively in the men's and women's singles sections of the Central Excise Open AITA grass court tennis championship which wll get under way here on Monday.

The men's event has drawn in a big entry list with around 75 names already entered for the singles main draw of 32. Apart from Sridhar, other prominent names are Kamala Kannan (Tamil Nadu), Mohammad Yasser Arafat (Andhra Pradesh), Vijay Sundar Prasanth (TN) among others. The women's draw has mostly local names with some outstation partcipation like Samia Jalali (Delhi), Shilpi Jaiswal (Bihar) and Sashirekha Balery (Karnataka) in the main draw. — Sports Reporter
