Achieve rural power targets by June 30, says Mulayam

CM reviews work under Rajiv Gandhi Rural Electrifiation Scheme

LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav today appealed to all the power companies to achieve the fixed targets under rural electrification scheme in villages by June 30 at all costs.

Reviewing the works of energy department and private companies for Rajiv Gandhi Rural Electrifiation Scheme here, Mr Yadav said electrificatIon works should be completed before the coming rainy season.

He also ordered that DMs would cooperate in rural electrification at local level, for which necessary orders were being issued from the State Chief Secretary.

The CM said weekly review would be held every Monday to evaluate the works of rural electrification against fixed targets.

``Power companies should not restrict them only for the works of putting poles and wires, but become helpful in providing electricity to the villages.''

Under the rural electrifiction scheme, 30,000 villages would be electrified for which work had been allotted to several reputed Indian private companies.

Besides Padamshri A K Lakhina (the chairman of RGRES), the representatives of Reliance Energy, IVRCL, UPRN, Accurate, Subhas Projects, ARB, Kalptaru, LT Electricals, Nagarjun, Gitko, KEC UB Engineering, L&T, Vijay Electricals and PGCII also participated in the meeting.

Meanwhile, all the companies assured that they would achieve the allotted targets of December last year till March 31 next.

They also assured that the remainig works would be completed till June 30 on priority basis.

According to scheduled targets, works were going on full pace and it would be completed within the stipulated period according to the expectations of the CM, they added.

Appreciating their works, Mr Yadav claimed that Indian companies never lagged behind and were of international repute so that they should not aim just for tenders and earning profit.

``If these companies do not fulfil the expectations according to their reputation, then they should give second thought to their work culture,'' he advised adding the companies must complete the work on a war footing so that they proved their worth to the entire world.

The CM observed all the companies should fix the target of March 31 and achieve it, after which the targets of June 30 should be achieved.

``The list of village being electrified in each district and the number of villages, where the electricity had already reached should be drawn and the list be made available at the respective offices of the block development and DM so that people could know about the development rural electrification.''
