Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: Eight persons were killed and three went missing after a Delhi Transport Corporation bus fell into the Peeladhar Canal between Rampur and Bilaspur in Uttar Pradesh on Friday.

The bus, belonging to the Seemapuri Depot in North East Delhi, was on its way from ISBT Anand Vihar to Haldwani when it met with the accident at around 4 a.m.. The DTC officials said the driver and the conductor of the bus were also among the 11 victims. However, they pleaded ignorance about the details of the passengers or their crew saying information received from the spot has been sketchy.

The Central Control Room, set up by DTC, said three of the deceased had been identified as Harbhajan Singh of Chhattarpur in South Delhi, Tiwari, a student of Almora, and Ashok Kumar.

For the relatives of those travelling by the bus, DTC has also made arrangements for their transportation to the site of the accident. It has also advised people to access information from 24351763, 24351587 or 9818999098.
