Sangareddy: Medak district administration will soon enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Patancheru-based International Crops Research Institute for the Semi Arid Tropics (Icrisat) to work together in 10 selected villages. District Collector B. Venkatesam held a brainstorming session with scientists from the Icrisat here on Thursday. "The Integrated agricultural development in Medak district" programme is being implemented jointly by the Medak district administration, Icrisat and other partner institutions. Defining the scope of the partnership, Mr. Venkatesam pointed out that Icrisat's services will be utilised in the select villages to develop farm productivity, based on the potential of the particular village. In addition to imparting training to farmers, watersheds will be developed to save precious water. He said that the package offered to farmers includes technical know-how, market forecast and forward linkages with the food processing industries.
