IN POLICE NET: Deputy IG Anjanikumar and Mahesh Chandra Laddha, SP, presenting gang members before mediapersons, in Nizamabad on Friday.
NIZAMABAD: The Nizamabad district police busted two notorious gangs which were involved in chain snatchings and road robberies by arresting three criminals. A total of 30 tolas of gold worth about Rs.2.50 lakhs was recovered from them. Presenting them before mediapersons here on Friday, Deputy IGP Anjanikumar said the rural police apprehended a notorious criminal Goode Venkat Rao of Alwalapadu in Prakasam district at Anandanagar colony here on Thursday. He along with one Venkateswarlu was involved in four chain snatching cases in the town from 2004. Venkateswarlu was absconding. Some 13.5 tolas of gold was recovered from him. He was being remanded to judicial custody. Efforts were on to trace out the absconding criminal. The rural police would be suitably rewarded for nabbing the criminals, he said. The Morthad police nabbed notorious property offenders who committed a sensational road robbery in the district. Vemula Mondi Narasaiah and Bodasu Ravi were apprehended when the police conducting vehicle checking on the outskirts of Kammarpally village, on National Highway-16 on Thursday.
Confess to the crime
The offenders confessed that they had committed the road robbery on November 17, 2005, under Morthad police station limits and relieved 17.5 tolas of gold from inmates of a car. They also confessed that they were involved in another road robbery in Malial police station limits of Karimnagar district. The police recovered 16.5 tolas of gold worth Rs.1.32 lakhs from them. Another offender Allepu Pedda Lakshman was absconding and he would be arrested soon, the DIG hoped. Mahesh Chandra Laddha, SP, spoke.
