MYSORE: An exhibition of traditional crafts but packaged with latest designs intended to help rural artisans from Andhra Pradesh will be held here from Saturday. From the famous lace to the attractive Kondapalli toys and colourful Kalamkari, products from remote places of Andhra Pradesh will be on display. Produced by 69 self-help groups , the products include artistic leather, soft toys, embroidery, pearl jewellery, decorate wood carvings, eco-friendly jute, Pochampalli, Mangalagiri and Chirala saris and dress material, besides numerous other craft products. The exhibition is being organised for the second time here. Such exhibitions have helped artisans, especially women, to improve their standard of their living by producing quality products. The 10-day event will be held on the Institution of Engineers premises on JLB Road. According to S.C. Devaramani, Assistant Director of Handicrafts Marketing and Service Extension Centre, artisans spread over remote places have formed self-help groups and have been provided training in craft activities.
