Encroachment cleared

CHENNAI: Hindu Religious Charitable and Endowment (HR & CE) Board authorities on Friday cleared an encroachment from a plot they own on Whites Road. According to HR and CE authorities, the land, measuring 2,295 sqft on Whites Road, valued at Rs. 1.35 crore, belonged to Ratna Vinayagar and Durgaiamman temple. It was leased to a person about two decades ago.

Even after the expiry of the lease term, the lessee continued to stay on. HR and CE officials said the lessee had allegedly subleased the property without the Board's knowledge.
