VIJAYAWADA: A drop-in centre has been set up under the Suraksha Project of Krishna District Lorry Owners' Association to create various facilities for providing psycho-sociological confidence to HIV victims among transport workers. The centre has come up at Ramalingeswara Nagar. People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLHAs) can freely walk into the drop-in centre and mingle with fellow victims to erase the feeling of getting isolated in society. Reading room and facilities to play carom board, volleyball, ring tennis and other games have been made at the centre. Madhu Mathew, a consultant from Delhi, and All India Motor Transport Congress secretary general J.M. Saxena visited the centre on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Mathew said that the setting up of the centre reflected the commitment of the Krishna District Lorry Owners Association (KDLOA).Mr. Saxena praised the KDLOA for taking many initiatives for the betterment of transport sector. KDLOA president P. Raghavendra Rao said that they would introduce an additional facility at the drop-in centre for the victims to do yoga and medication everyday. KDLOA former president Yelamanchili Veera Eeswara Rao and others were present.
