Hotel worker found murdered

HYDERABAD: A hotel worker Rajesh alias Raakhi, 40, was found murdered with his throat slit in his rented room at Turabnagar of Amberpet on Friday. Police suspect the killer could be a homosexual.

"The victim was seen with an unidentified man in the room on Thursday night. It is premature to ascertain anything," Malakpet ACP Swamy Narayana Pawar said.

Hailing from Maharashtra, Rajesh came to the city some 20 years ago and was living alone. Recently, he met Rahman, a painter, and they soon became friends. Till a few weeks ago, both were living in the same portion. But Rahman asked Rajesh to shift into the adjacent room since many men were regularly dropping in to meet the latter.

Rahman returned to the room around 4 a.m. "By then Rajesh was fast asleep and another youngster was also in that room," police quoted Rahman as saying. Around 9 a.m., Rahman woke up and saw Rajesh's room bolted from outside. He smelt a rat and opened the door only to see Rajesh murdered.

Lorry overturns

A lorry overturned after hitting a divider on the Bowenpally main road, killing cleaner Khaja, 28, and injuring driver Raja and motorist Satish Kumar on Friday. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital. The accident brought traffic to a grinding halt on all routes connected to the busy Bowenpally junction.

"It seems the driver lost control and hit the divider. Both the front wheels and the connecting road came off," Bowenpally Sub-Inspector Mathew Koshi said. The lorry went on to hit a bike in the front and came to halt after overturning.
