Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu Agricultural University and Rotary Club of Coimbatore Satellite have joined hands to offer programmes of interest to farmers, women and students.
Training scheme
A release said that the programmes would include a training scheme for 20 farmers on bee-keeping, mushroom production and sericulture and another programme for women on cut flower arrangement, food processing and preservation.
Screening camp
The university and the Rotary club would share the cost of conducting a screening camp for breast cancer. Besides this, there were plans to start a Rotaract Club at the university and start a blood donation programme that would depend on messages sent from mobile phones.
Blood donation
Volunteers or donors interested in donating blood would form a group with five other donors and register with the club, giving their mobile phone numbers, addresses and blood groups. When a patient sought blood donation, the club would provide him or her with a list of registered donors whose blood group matched that of the patient. The Vice-Chancellor C. Ramasamy and the former Registrar P.C. Sundara Babu, also the president of the club, formulated the programmes.
