Curbs on tipper lorries in city

Thiruvananthapuram: Tipper lorries have been banned between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. in the city limits, according to a notification issued by District Collector N. Ayyappan on Friday. The ban had been enforced during the 12-hour period in the city limits under Cr.PC 144 and 133 in the wake of mounting accidents involving tippers, he said. The tippers that violate the ban will be seized and the licence of the drivers cancelled. Cases will be registered against the owners of tipper lorries that violate the ban.

Thiruvananthapuram: Corporation Health Standing Committee chairman G.R. Anil has warned traders against selling inferior quality food and drinks. Mr. Anil said in a release here on Friday that the health squad has been entrusted to crackdown on traders selling such adulterated food and beverages. — Staff Reporter
