Workers submit plan to revive Mysore Lamps

  • The company was closed down in June 2003
  • It has debts of about Rs. 120 crores
  • Rs. 20 lakhs is required each month for continuing operations
  • Workers say Rs. 60 lakhs from gratuity fund trust can be used

    BANGALORE: Employees of Mysore Lamp Works Limited (MLW) have submitted to the Karnataka High Court tentative proposals to revive the company and sought the court's permission to operate it. The MLW Staff and Employees' Union has filed a memo to this effect in the High Court giving its plans to revive the company without financial assistance from the Government. The union has suggested ways to raise the funds required to reopen the company, which was closed down in June 2003. The company requires Rs. 20 lakhs each month for continuing operations.
