Pondicherry: Leaders of various political parties, associations of government staff and trade union activists staged a dharna in front of JIPMER on Tindivanam road here on Sunday to protest against the move of the Centre to convert JIPMER into an autonomous institution. The dharna was organised by the Pondicherry People's anti conversion Action committee. C. H. Balamohanan (president of Confederation of Associations of Government Employees), T. Murugan (CPI-M), A Pappusamy (Anna Trade Union), S. Balasubramanian (CPI-M.L) and V. S. Abishegam (CPI) participated. — Special Correspondent
