Gulbarga: Pondicherry-based Sri Aurobindo Society will celebrate its golden jubilee in the city from February 21. The society's Gulbarga Chapter founder president Triyambakarao Ghantoji, president Sripadrao Ghantoji, vice-president S. Basavaraj and organiser Shivraj Patil told presspersons on Sunday. The programmes will be held on the Sri Aurobindo Society premises at Om Nagar on Sedam Road. A painting camp will be organised on the occasion. As many as 25 artists will bring out paintings on the life and works of Sri Aurobindo. The works will be put on show. The golden jubilee souvenir, `Darshan', comprising articles on Sri Aurobindo, will be brought out on the occasion. An old-age home will be set up on the society premises. As many as 24 special lectures on Sri Aurobindo's philosophy and Indian philosophy will be held every during the year. The Gulbarga Chapter, which now has 200 members, was set up in 1956. It has five branches in Bidar, Raichur, Manvi, Nachawar and Mahabaleshwar in Maharashtra. The Chapter will launch a drive aimed at enrolling at least 5,000 members. The membership fee is Rs. 200.
