RGUHS entrance exam held sans hitches

  • 9,313 candidates appeared for the test
  • It was held in 13 centres in Bangalore and in Mysore, Hubli and Bellary
  • Merit list to be announced in four days

BANGALORE: Even as claims of question paper leakage were found to be false, 9,313 candidates appeared for the Postgraduate Common Entrance Test (PGCET and P-PGET) conducted by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) here on Sunday.

"Of the 10,079 registered candidates, 92.4 per cent attended the test," officials said.

The PGCET, to select students for admission to postgraduate medical and dental courses in government colleges, and the P-PGET for postgraduate courses in private medical and dental colleges were held in 13 centres in Bangalore and three other centres in Mysore, Hubli and Bellary.

"The test was conducted without a single case of malpractice," RGUHS Registrar Hukkeri told The Hindu .

He said the merit list will be announced in four days. The answer keys are being displayed on the university website (www.rguhs.ac.in) .

"Thirty experts have verified a set of all key answers. The experts' committee will meet again on Monday," he said.

Dismissing claims of question paper leak, the university condemned what it said are "attempts by some vicious persons who, with nefarious motives, try to vitiate the atmosphere. It appears that some vested interests have tried to sabotage the conduct of the examination and bring a bad name to the university."

In a statement, university officials said arrangements had been made for the smooth conduct of the test.

"Utmost confidentiality has been observed in preparing and printing of the question paper. Immediately on the commencement of the examination, the question papers which were purported to have been leaked were verified with the originals and found to be bogus," the officials said.
