Sex racket busted in Peddapuram

Alleged kingpin arrested; hunt on for others

Kakinada: The police have unearthed a sex racket in Peddapuram by nabbing Nunna Rambabu, allegedly the key pimp. The racket involved supplying of girls to Chennai, Hyderabad and Bangalore.

They also launched a manhunt for his alleged associates. The police action followed a complaint lodged by a 20-year-old woman, who was allegedly forced into flesh trade by a couple of Peddapuram. She escaped from their clutches while returning from Chennai.

Case booked

She told the police that she was taken to the couple - Muppana Padma and Rafi -- as a maid servant by her parents seven years ago. Her parents were kept in the dark and were given wrong information that she ran away from the house without their knowledge.

Based on her complaint, the Peddapuram police registered a case and SP Naveen Chand entrusted the job to the Ph D Ramakrishna, Rajahmundry DSP.

Circle Inspector of Kakinada rural Veera Reddy was deputed to assist the DSP in the investigation. Based on the investigation they had arrested Rambabu, the alleged pimp. The main accused and the alleged kingpin in the sex racket Muppana Padma, according to the police, tried to commit suicide a month ago and was admitted to government general hospital here.

Property seized

The SP said in a press release here on Sunday that Padma would be arrested as soon as she was discharged from hospital. The immovable property earned by her through the profession for the past seven years, the SP said, was seized and the house was identified as a brothel den and a memo was filed in court.

The SP said the police had recovered a diary from the house of Padma containing the addresses and cell phone numbers of clients and pimps and action would be initiated accordingly.
