HYDERABAD : The Congress Legislature Party has accused the Telugu Desam Party of levelling false allegations and making a determined bid to derail irrigation project works. Government Chief Whip N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and Government Whips -- D. Sridhar Babu and S. Udayabhanu -- in a statement on Sunday found fault with TDP leader M.V. Mysoora Reddy for levelling `baseless' allegations on irrigation projects and attributing motive of corrupt practices in the implementation of works. They charged that Dr. Mysoora Reddy was trying to provoke farmers of all the three regions by hurling accusations at the ruling party. The TDP leader's charge that 3,800 acres would be brought under irrigation through one tmcft of water from Polavaram project as against 13,000 acres under Kalwakurthy lift irrigation scheme and 15,000 acres by Handri-Neeva project was totally false propaganda aimed at whipping up regional passions. The Congress leaders wanted the TDP to justify its claim that one tmcft of water from Devadula project would irrigate 23,000 acres.
