No diversion of Godavari water, says Chief Minister

Staff Reporter

Takes the line that surplus water in the river can create `Green Telangana'

  • Addresses public meeting organised by rebel TRS MLA Dugyala Srinivasa Rao
  • Asks people to trust Government's actions
  • Lays foundation for many development works

THORRUR (WARANGAL DT): Not a single of drop of water from the Godavari would be diverted to other regions at the cost of Telangana, said Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy here on Sunday.

The Chief Minister was addressing a public meeting organised by the rebel TRS MLA Dugyala Srinivasa Rao, which was touted as a counter to the `Polavaram Garjana' organised by the TRS at Bhadrachalam.

Dr. Rajasekhara Reddy said there was no truth in the allegations that Godavari water was being diverted to other regions. There was surplus water in the Godavari, which would be utilised to create a `Green Telangana.'

Taking an indirect dig at the Jala Sadhana Yatra organised by TDP leaders, the Chief Minister urged the people not to distrust the motives of the State Government, which was committed to balanced regional development.

The Chief Minister explained that he was at the meeting at Thorrur at the behest of the local MLA Dugyala Srinivasa Rao who persuaded him to visit Chennur constituency for the past many days. He said he was impressed with the efforts of the MLA.

On power, Dr. Rajasekhara Reddy clarified that there would be seven-hour power supply.
