HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy has said that a humanitarian and progressive outlook was key to development and assured that none would be left out of economic prosperity during the implementation of the Indiramma programme. In an open letter to the people ahead of the budget session of the Assembly commencing on Tuesday, Dr. Reddy said that his regime would carry forward the `mantra' of rapid and meaningful development. Jalayagnam, Integrated Novel Development in Rural and Model Municipal Areas (Indiramma), employment mission and growth of Information Technology were the four pillars around which development of the State was planned.
Important session
The ensuing budget session would be important as the irrigation sector alone was poised to get an allocation of over Rs. 10,000 crores, against Rs. 7,000 crores during the current fiscal. The construction of irrigation projects along with the free power would continue to benefit farmers. Indiramma and the Andhra Pradesh Urban Municipal Services Project will result in fulfilment of basic infrastructure needs in villages and towns. The Chief Minister advised the legislators to draw up a special strategy to highlight the achievements of the Government and come up with an action plan for the overall development of the State in the next three years, covering irrigation, agriculture, industry, IT, power and welfare of the weaker sections. He said an all-party meeting would be organised on Tuesday to discuss Polavaram project.
