JAIPUR: A speciality mall for gems and jewellery is coming up here with the promise of providing a whole new experience in jewellery shopping by bringing reputed jewellers from Rajasthan and other States as well as abroad under one roof. The project for construction of the mall, Gold Souk, started on Sunday with the `Bhoomi Poojan' ceremony at the site located near Jawahar Circle here. Spread over 2.5 acres, Gold Souk will have a total area of over 3-lakh square feet sprawling over six levels. The mall will have 150 shops for jewellers and over 200 office spaces for jewellery traders, exporters and agents. Shoppers will get an opportunity to try and buy famous Kundan and Meenakari of Rajasthan along with filigree of Kolkata, traditional jewellery of southern States, and the latest national and international designer brands. The chairman of Aerens Goldsouk International Limited, S.K. Gupta, told reporters here that while Gold Souk would be the right destination for jewellery shopping, another one-of-its-kind concept being launched at the same venue was the Gem Souk. It will be situated on the third and fourth floors of Gold Souk and will operate as business-to-business mall for manufacturers, traders and exporters of gems.
