Indian State an `invisible enemy', say Kashmiri Pandits

`Invisible enemy is more dangerous than the Pakistan-sponsored terrorism'

  • `Cleansing of Kashmiri Pandits from the political life, administration, economic and social organisations in the State continues unhindered'
  • `We are not for dialogue with those people whose hands are full of blood'
  • `No talks on Kashmir were possible without the involvement of Kashmiri Pandits'

Jammu: The Kashmiri Pandits, who have been living in exile here and in other parts of country since 1989, have blamed "the Indian State for betrayal of the nationalists" and termed it as "the invisible enemy that is more dangerous than the Pakistan-sponsored terrorism".

During a convention organised here on Saturday, Janata Party chief Subramaniam Swamy and former BJP leader K.N. Govindacharya supported the demand of Kashmiri Pandits for their homeland and adopted a resolution against the peace process.

Mr. Govindacharya warned that no talks on Kashmir were possible without the involvement of Kashmiri Pandits and no compromise on Kashmir would be acceptable as "it is the crown of India". While strongly supporting the homeland demand of Kashmir Pandits, he said this would be a first step in fighting the disintegrating menace by Pakistan.

He strongly criticised the weak-kneed policies of the Central government on Kashmir and made a dig at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as well as the Leader of the Opposition L.K. Adwani over their oft-repeated statements on Kashmir.

The chairman of political advisory board of Panun Kashmir, Prof. M.K. Teng said, "It is a matter of shame that even after 16 years of religious cleansing, Kashmiri Pandits continue to be treated as a pariah group by the Jammu and Kashmir government. The cleansing of our community from the political life, administration, economic and social organisations in the State continues unhindered."

Blaming the consecutive Central Governments for hiding facts on Kashmir, Prof. Teng said that like the terrorists, the Panun Kashmiris "face a hidden challenge from another enemy that is the Indian State". He termed the Indian State as "invisible enemy which is more dangerous that Pakistan-sponsored terrorism.

Outrightly rejecting the peace process, the All Kashmiri Pandit Solidarity Conference (AKPSC) chief, Omkar Nath Trisal said, "We are not for dialogue with those people whose hands are full of blood." Strongly advocating for homeland, he said the Panun Kashmir rejected demilitarisation and self-rule. "The homeland will be pluralistic in nature and democratic in character."

Addressing the convention, president of Panun Kashmir, Dr Ajay Chrangoo said, "Our struggle for homeland is a struggle for entire Hindu Samaj of country." He said India was facing a threat through Northern Frontier and there was need to guard this frontier from external invaders to protect the demography of the country."

The general secretary of Panun Kashmir Kuldeep Raina said that Panun Kashmir did not only explode the myths but has also established realities. "Today, Panun Kashmiris are in a position to garner the support of one billion Indians for homeland demand," he added.

BJP State unit vice-president and spokesman Prof Hari Om expressed the same view and supported the struggle launched by Panun Kashmir.

He also blamed the governments coming in power at South Block for betraying the nationalists in the state and alleged that the Centre was responsible for dilution of Indian stand on Kashmir issue.

Other speakers like Shalinder Aima, Capt Tickoo, vice president Awami League, Prof M L Raina, Prof M L Kaul and S L Kaul of Secular Forum and Dr Shakti Bhan also expressed the same view holding "the Indian State as invisible enemy of Panun Kashmir as well as whole Hindu community". The resolution, produced by Sunil Bhat, was adopted by voice vote. -- UNI
