CHENNAI: Though tree planting is a cause by itself, Sri Krishna Sweets and Exnora International chose birth stars as a reason to plant 27 saplings to create an Astral Garden along the Boat Club Area. Minister of State for Railways R. Velu was present on the occasion to inaugurate the planting of Etti, Perunelli, Atthi, Naval, Karungali, Thippili and other saplings for the birth stars, Ashwini, Bharani, Karthigai up to Poorattathi, Uthirattadi and Revathi. Ms. Naina Shah, president of the Boat Club Area Walkers Association, Suresh Krishnamurthy secretary, S. Sivakumar, chairperson of the Exnora International and Sulochana Ramaseshan, its president, were also present. M. Murali, Proprietor, Sri Krishna Sweets, the organisation that sponsored the saplings and tree guards, said there were plans to continue the programme throughout the year. "We plan to plant 500 saplings and the next programme is coming up on February 17 in T. Nagar." The programme also included a question and answer session with the Minister of State on various issues.
