Hoax calls forces evacuation
It has been learnt that around 5-30 p.m. the Haryana DGP received an SMS claiming that a bomb would explode in Metropolitan Mall in Gurgaon. Immediately, the local police were directed to rush to the place and evacuate the premises. The police urged the mall owner to help evacuate the Sunday crowd. While all the mall staff and the visitors were evacuated from the premises, the dog squad of the Haryana police reached there and began combing the place. Soon, about two dozen NSG commandos also arrived at the spot from the Samalkha base with the bomb detection and disposal gadgets. As a precautionary measure, the security personnel also carried out searches in the nearby Citi Centre, Sahara and Mega malls. The search operation went on till 10 p.m. but no explosives were found in any of the malls.

According to the Fire Department, the incident occurred around 8 p.m. when the thinner stocked in a private building caught fire. At least 10 fire tenders were pressed into action and the blaze was brought under control within one-hand-half hours.
Proposal for school
in Tihar jail
In a bid to make the jail an institution for reform, Tihar jail authorities have proposed to make learning mandatory for inmates. It has sent a proposal to the Delhi Government to set up a school inside the jail, facilitating the inmates to resume their education. ``Education will be mandatory for the inmates between the age group of 18-21 years. They will be admitted in the school, if it materialises, and will continue their study,'' law officer of the jail Sunil Kumar said.
Vikas Yadav denied bail
Justice S K Agarwal, however, asked the Delhi Government to furnish within two weeks all details pertaining to the efforts made for the production of Vikas's sister and key witness Bharati Yadav who is now said to be in the United States.
Compensation
The claim petition was settled by a Motor Accident Claims Tribunal on February 10, when petitioner Irfan Ali agreed to accept the amount from Oriental Insurance, the underwriters for the truck.
