NEW DELHI: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has prepared a list of around 4,000 "tainted" officers and employees against whom any inquiry or departmental action is pending. These employees will neither be given any promotion nor any increment till they come out clean. The list prepared by the civic body's Vigilance Department has names of officials and employees found guilty of corruption or misconduct till January 15, 2006. It contains names from almost all the departments and includes around 3,000 Class III and Class IV employees. The remaining 1,000 employees are of the rank of Class I and Class II and this includes 80 per cent engineers. The list also has names of senior officials of the rank of assistant commissioner, deputy commissioner, director and deputy director. "An additional commissioner and a deputy commissioner against whom a high-level inquiry is being conducted by a Central Government agency also figure on the list," disclosed a senior MCD official, adding that the list has been sent to all senior officials concerned including all the 12 deputy commissioners so that action could be taken and negative entry could be marked in their service files. The action comes in the wake of a Delhi High Court order which asked the MCD to identify all those engineers who had ignored illegal constructions in their areas.
