BANGALORE: The St. Joseph's College of Commerce team of Vinay and Vivek walked away with the top prize at "Tata Crucible The Campus Quiz 2006," the inter-collegiate business quiz conducted by the Tata Group here on Sunday. The winners will now travel to Mumbai to participate in the national finals of the quiz to be conducted on February 26. They will compete with the winners from Kolkata, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad and New Delhi. At Sunday's regional finals, the team of Ankur and Shreyes from S.B.M. Jain College finished runners-up. The winning team and the runners-up team took home Rs. 60,000 and Rs. 30,000 cash prize respectively, and also gift hampers. In its first edition last year, the quiz had attracted about 400 teams and had prize money of over Rs. 15 lakhs. The quiz was focussed on students of engineering colleges and business schools. In the Bangalore regional round, nearly 98 teams participated at the preliminary rounds. Teams from across the State participated in the quiz. Six teams from preliminary round were selected at the regional final round. The quiz was hosted by ace quizmaster Giri Balasubramaniam alias Pickbrain. Among the teams that reached the final round were Nikhil Goyel and Ashish Rungta, Center of Management Studies; Chetan S. and Jitendra Kumar of Alliance Business Academy; Adrian and Shashank of Christ College; Vinay and Vivek of St. Joseph's College of Commerce; Debasis and Lavanya of Xavier Institute of Management; and Ankur and Shreyes from S.B.M. Jain College. The team from ICFAI Chennai was the national winning team of "Tata Crucible The Campus Quiz 2005" while JBIMS Mumbai and IIM Ahmedabad were the first and second runners-up.
