VIJAYAWADA : Vijayawada karatekas put up a brilliant performance in the recently held State-level karate championship at Rajahmundry by winning a bagful of medals. Kennedy High School's Sk. Andnan Syed won first place in the under-12 kata segment while NSM Public School's V. Vikram Chandrasekhar bagged second place in the under-9 kata event. Andhra Loyola College's V. Vijayakumar, Triveni College's N. Bhaskar, Md. Adil Wahab Ahmed And Md Syed are the other karatekas who won medals in the event.
Badminton tourney
The 33rd AP College Teachers badminton tournament for the teaching staff of all the affiliated colleges will be conducted on Feb 25 and 26 at Siddhartha College for Arts and Sciences at Vijayawada, according to principal M. Ramakrishna Rao here on Sunday. He said competitions would be conducted in men's doubles, veterans' doubles, super veterans' doubles, women doubles and mixed doubles. The entries should reach the college by Feb 19.
Sarat Chandra for C'Wealth Games
Vijayawada Gymnast A. Sarat Chandra, a ticket collector of South Central Railway Vijayawada Division, has been selected to the Indian gymnastics team to participate in the Commonwealth Games to be held in Australia in 2006, said N. Arjuna Rao, personnel officer, here on Sunday.
