NCW seeks report from AMU

NEW DELHI:
Taking suo motu notice of alleged molestation of a student of the Aligarh Muslim University by two students on the campus, the National Commission for Women (NCW) has sought a report from the Vice-Chancellor of the university.
NCW chairperson Girija Vyas has asked the Vice-Chancellor to give a comprehensive report on the incident and furnish details on whether the university had in place a complaints committee to look into cases of sexual harassment as required under the Visakha guidelines prescribed by the Supreme Court. The AMU student was reportedly harassed and threatened by her fellow students for dressing up in jeans and T-shirt. The victim had moved the National Human Rights Commission on the issue.
