GULBARGA: Members of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), the Gram Vidyut Pratinidi Kshemabvruddhi Sangha (GVPKS) and the District Mahiti Sindhu Horata Samiti (MSHS) on Tuesday staged a dharna in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office here protesting against the policies of the Union Government reducing employment avenues for the youth. In a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister and submitted to the Deputy Commissioner, the members of the three organisations also demanded that the State Government regularise the services of the gram vidyut pratinidhis working in the electricity supply companies and pay minimum wages of Rs. 4,000 a month to the pratinidhis in the Gulbarga Electricity Supply Company.

They also demanded that the Mahiti Sindhu Programme in government schools should be handled directly by the Government. Nearly 2,000 computer teachers working in different schools should be paid their salaries directly by the Government, they said.
