THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The action council of Kerala State Housing Board (KSHB) employees will take out a march to the Assembly complex on Thursday in protest against the United Democratic Front (UDF) Government's alleged negligence towards the board. Leader of the Opposition V.S. Achutanandan will inaugurate the march.
Council charge
Action council members told mediapersons here that for the last four years, the UDF Government had not launched any new home loan plan. The Finance Department was yet to reimburse the sum of Rs.345 crores spent by the board on various social welfare projects. The Government was not ready to stand guarantor for the loans for various projects allotted by HUDCO, they alleged. Most of these loans were for low-income group housing projects, and these had lapsed owing to the Government's attitude. The action council had drawn up a composite programme to revitalise the board. But the Government was yet to act on it, they said. KSHB Employees Federation (CITU) president C.B.C. Warrier; KSHB Employees Association (INTUC) president N. Peethambara Kurup and KSHB Employees Union (AITUC) president J. Venugopal were present.
