YEN FOR MUSIC: District Collector N. Ayyappan

District Collector N. Ayyappan is the VIP most sought after by residents' associations and other organisations inaugural functions in the capital city. The reason for his popularity among function organisers is that apart from being the Collector, Mr. Ayyappan is an accomplished singer.

The organisers ensure that Mr. Ayyappan renders a song or two after the inaugural speech. The Collector, on his part, is happy to oblige. Anticipating the demand from his hosts and the audience as well, the Collector makes it a point to bring his tape-recorder along to provide the background music. This spares the organisers the trouble of running around to find an orchestra team.

Recently, Mr. Ayyappan organised a musical evening for the inmates of the Mental Health Centre at Peroorkada. His daughter, A. Anu, an engineer by profession, also joined him on the microphone. The other family members of the Collector were present too.
